Mommy and Daughter Tea Party

In May to celebrate Mother's Day, I hosted a Mommy and Daughter Tea Party. My darling daughters, Sweet Pea and Sugar Puddin', were such gracious co-hostesses. Today, I am thrilled to participate with Tablescape Thursday and share my first post with tablescape I styled for the Moms. The above pic was the invitation. Beneath the lid of the beautiful miniature teapot place card holder reveals the housing for a tealight.

When our guests arrived, this tea/coffee service greeted them. We did not serve coffee, but displaying the entire set was aesthetically pleasing to me. I had a novel idea. At cocktail parties, we serve a signature cocktail. Well how about a signature tea at a tea party. The signature tea served to the Moms was Kamiya Papaya Oolong loose tea from Teavana. The aroma of this full-bodied tea is delightful, fragrant and fruity.

Do you recognize this tea cup and saucer? It's "Old Country Roses". My Mommy adored this pattern. As a little girl, I remember her gazing at Old Country Roses in catalogs, saying I am going to buy this set one day. She never did. No matter how we resist being like our Mom's, we grow up and act just like them. You see, I really like this pattern too, so I bought a service for eight.

Here is a pic of the table setting.

My centerpiece is a crytal candle holder. Its center is the stage for roses from my local grocery store. The center could also hold floating candles, too.

At Marshalls, I spied milk chocolates wrapped in paper that looks similar to Old Country Roses. These favors set proudly in the crystal pineapple coasters until the highballs of strawberry lemonade punch joined this setting along with our tea sandwiches (tarragon chicken salad on parmesan yeast rolls).

A couple of bird's eye views ...

A few days after the party, I discarded the roses from the vase on my tray table. Later, I passed the dining room table and noticed that a rose petal wanted to join the others in my table cloth.

I gave this cross to my Mommy for Mother's Day several years ago. I bought it from a craft show because its adornment reminds me of our beloved pattern. My Mommy is in heaven now, and the sentiments inscribed on both pieces of this cross are so endearing and true.

This Old Country Roses cross is a recent find on one of my Tablescaping Escapades.

This condiment jar with spoon was also another accoutrement from same crafter at the craft show. Scrumtumptious (a word my dad coined) Peach Amaretto Jam by Stonewall Kitchen resided there, but not for long.

You guessed it. This teapot, its saucer and butterfly spoon came from the same crafter. Isn't her detail marvelous?

What a pretty tablescape - just right for a tea party! Your florals are all so complimentary and the final table is just lovely.

I love that you included items of your mom's, too. What a special tea party!
